Recreational harvest of gray triggerfish will open in Gulf of Mexico state and federal waters on March 1, 2019.

It’s currently closed annually January, February, June and July.

If you plan to fish for gray triggerfish in Gulf state or federal waters, excluding Monroe County, from a private recreational vessel, you must sign up as a Gulf Reef Fish Angler (annual renewal is required).

When the season reopens, the daily recreational bag limit will be one fish per person (lowered from two fish in 2017), and the minimum size limit will be 15 inches fork length (increased from 14 inches fork length in 2017).
